2010 Art Melt Winners Named

The 7th Annual Forum 35 2010 Art Melt was held Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Louisiana State Museum. The following artists were named winners at the Art Melt Preview Party on Thursday, July 15:

Best In Show: No Where Is Perfect by Diane Hanson of Baton Rouge;

2nd place: Lichens 10x by Treasure Tolliver of Baton Rouge;

3rd place: Untitled by Charles Durio of Baton Rouge;

Honorable Mention: Hwy 421, Spilman, Louisiana by Jill Moore of St. Francisville;

Honorable Mention: Um I'm Thinking About It by Davenport Wang of Ruston;

Honorable Mention: Neato Incognito by Mark Rabalais of Pineville;

Honorable Mention: Sno Cone Shack by Shannon Kolvitz of Baton Rouge;

Honorable Mention: Short and Stout by Lisa Germain of New Orleans;

Juror’s Choice - Andrea Pollan: No Where is Perfect by Diane Hanson of Baton Rouge;

Juror’s Choice - Denny Meecham: Sgt. Rock by Ernie Fournet of New Iberia;

Juror’s Choice - Paul Dean: Bird's Eye View by Warren Simmons of Baton Rouge;

Forum 35 Award: Lived in a Shoe by Comusino Hardman of New Orleans;

Brunner Gallery Award: Spring Stadium by Michael Secor of Baton Rouge;

Country Road Magazine held a People’s Choice contest at the free Art Melt event Friday night, and the winning piece was Reminiscence by Michelle Conques of Denham Springs.

All Art Melt artwork will remain on display at the Louisiana State Museum for six weeks. Art Melt artwork images can be seen online at www.artmelt.org, where remaining unsold artwork will be available for sale in the near future. Proceeds from ticket and refreshment sales go to Forum 35 and its many community projects, and all participants from Forum 35 volunteered their time and efforts to put on the event.

More than 6,000 guests attended this 7th annual multi-media, multi-sensory experience, with musical entertainment by the Baton Rouge Symphony, DJ OttO, Mike Foster Project Brass Band and Peter Simon Band; performances by Bayou Shimmy, Cangelosi Dance Studio, Red Stick Roller Derby, City at Peace Poetry Slam, Living Statues, Cowboy on Stilts, DrumCart and Of Moving Colors; culinary arts demonstrations; the Smock, Paper, Scissors Youth Art Show; and much more.
